Lets see… First, legend: W=Watt(unit of power, one light-bulb is rated at about 60W), mW=miliWatt=1/1000 mW, MW=MegaWatt=10000000W (they are case sensitive).
Usual pointers are <= 5mW, DVD writers ~= 250mW (those can burn ballons and light matches). The most powerful laser that is not a big-lazer-in-some-building-for-igniting-little-suns is about 100kW (one tenth of a MegaWatt), but it’s for military use anyway. You might want to add captions and in the desc. talking about your mistake it’s obviously not 1 MW. It’s probably a <5mw laser.

ermm guys not too get too involved but it is 1 mW which is milowhat, megawatt is insanely powerfull even house light bulbs are only 60 watt so theres no way these laser pointers are 1000 watts…they wouldn’t be able to get that much power into a single light with out it overheating the moment you turn it on…

@koolguyg Its megawatt (mw) 1mw is (1/1000) of a Gigawatt (Gw). ANY LIVING THING ON EARTH WHO SAYS MILLIWATT THATS REALLY VERY WRONG. This guy is 100% right its megawatts.

@SecondCocacola 1mw (megawatt) is 1/1000 of a Gw (Gigawatt). Milliwatts is really not true.
@frostywinter11 OK first of all, the most powerful handheld laser is 1 Watt which has few less zeros than megawatt. Second, Megawatt is written with both capitallized M and W. Milliwatt is written with lower case m and capital W. However, most people don’t bother capitallizing the W, so when something’s written as mw, take it was milliwatt.
1000 Megawatts (mw) = 1 gigawatt (Gw)
1 mw is 1/1000 of a Gw
