FIFA investigates laser attacks in football

The world football association FIFA is now examining the incidents of laser attacks from Greek fans against players and goalkeeper of the opposing teams.

Not only the game against Switzerland last year there was such a glare, even last week in World Cup qualifying game against Greece to Israel played on Kreat, the Israeli goalkeeper was irradiated with green laser while penaltyshoot was done.

Now it remains to be seen how the investigation of FIFA fails and what consequences for the Greek fans and also for the Greek team it will have.

Plane flashed by laser

Yesterday a plane from Air Canada was blindet by a green beam from a handheld laser pointer.

Canadian Pilots now call for better labeling and tougher penalities for blinding.
Labeling is in my opionion not the problem. Just higher penalities and more education ist the only way.

People often don’t know how dangerous it is to blind a Pilot while landing a fully seated passenger plane. Often they don’t want to blind, just target the plane, but with this distance a few mm at the pointer are meters at the plane.

Notice: You play with lives!

Pilots call for handheld laser ban

Irish pilots call for a ban of handheld lasers such as laser pointers. They want them to be classified as a weapen so that their use gets illegal or needs a license.

The problem is that planes are hit while landing or stating, thoose 2 critical momentens while flight. Blinding the pilot means a high risk for passenger life, but also for those people living near an airport.

The Irish Aviation Authority has said ten such incidents have taken place since September. That is a huge amount.
